Jo 1( histidyl tRNA synthetase) is a part of the AminoacyltRNASynthetase group enzymes. Jo 1 antibodies are produced when the person is affected by Polymyositis. This test measures the Jo1 Antibodies level in the blood to diagnose Polymyositis Syndromes, Myositis, and Interstitial Lung Diseases.

Why Anti Jo-1 Antibody test?

CLINICAL INFORMATION:

Anti Jo-1 Antibody test is a myositis-specific autoantibody most commonly found in suspected patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) such as polymyositis/dermatomyositis and also it is associated with increased risk of pulmonary fibrosis. These antibodies are directed against histidyl tRNA synthetase which catalyzes the binding of the histidine to its cognate tRNA during protein synthesis.
