This test is used to diagnose the current acute Hepatitis B virus infection and checks whether that person is exposed to HBV Infection in the Past.

Why the Anti-HBC Antibody test?

CLINICAL INFORMATION :

Anti-HBC Antibody test is performed to help diagnose symptoms in hepatitis B infection. Anti-HBC Antibody indicates previous exposure or acute ongoing infection with hepatitis B virus in an undefined timeframe. These IgM antibodies arise shortly after the onset of symptoms of hepatitis B infection exposure or during the onset of vaccination. During this window period, the antibodies are detected on testing and gradually these IgM antibodies disappear following IgG antibodies, which remains as a serological marker even till years after hepatitis B virus exposure.
