Why Peas allergen test?

CLINICAL INFORMATION:

Peas Allergen test is a part of the food allergy panel. Peas (Pisumsativum) are legumes belonging to fabaceae and also clinically there is relevant evidence for cross allergenicity or sensitivity between peas and other legumes like peanut, lentils, garden peas, chickpeas, soya bean, etc in sensitized individuals. Some of the allergens present in peas have been characterized as vicilin (similar to globulin), convicilin (isoflavone reductase), profiling, etc. This IgE allergy test uses a blood sample to determine if the suspected patient is allergic to peas. Some of the symptoms include atopic dermatitis, asthma, runny nose, nausea, angioedema, oral pruritis, diarrhea, and clinical manifestation of signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, etc. Hence, a skin prick test also called a puncture or scratch test is performed in the forearm for allergic response elicited by the body.  Untreated complications of a potato allergy can lead to consequences like rapid heartbeat, sudden drop in blood pressure, heart palpitations, trouble breathing, swelling in the air passage of the throat, slurred speech, swollen tongue, swollen lips, cyanosis around lips, fingertips, or toes and loss of consciousness, etc.
