TOTAL T₃TEST:
T₃ – Triiodothyrnine is an enzyme generated by the Thyroid gland. It regulates metabolism and maintains body temperature. Total T₃ test screens the function of the thyroid gland for diagnosing thyroid disorders such as hyperthyroidism. This health check-up suggested with TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) and T₄ test.
CLINICAL INFORMATION :
This test is usually done to assess thyroid function. It is ordered to primarily diagnose hyperthyroidism and during treatment for prognosis. This test is suggested in patients with symptoms such as unintentional weight loss, rapid heartbeat (tachycardia), irregular heartbeat (arrhythmias, pounding of the heart (palpitations), increased appetite, nervousness, anxiety, and irritability. Other associated tests include a kit method, radioimmunoassay, spectrometry, etc.
