# Smear Study (Microscopic)

SMEAR STUDY MICROSCOPY:

Blood Smear is also called Peripheral Blood Smear, Manual Differential, Red blood cell Morphology, and Erythrocyte Morphology. The blood Smear test calculates the red blood cells (RBC), White Blood cells (WBC), and Platelets to find their levels and their functions. This test is taken for diagnosing disorders and diseases related to blood cells.

CLINICAL INFORMATION :

This test is usually done for the medical diagnosis of any abnormalities in RBCs, WBCs, platelets, and any infectious parasites and/or intra-cellular changes within WBCs indicating certain pathologies, etc. This test is suggested in patients with symptoms such as body aches, fever, chills, headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath, etc. Other associated tests include flow cytometers and Neubauer counting chamber.

General instructions:

Sample Requirement: Specimen - Blood sample drawn from the vein. Test Preparation: None.

NOTE - Sample for specimen collections may vary based on the patient’s condition/cases according to the patient’s presenting complaints/signs or symptoms:
