LH BLOOD TEST:

LH – Luteinizing Hormone test is also called Lutropin, Interstitial Cell Stimulating Hormone (ICSH). LH generated in the Pituitary gland. LH assessment in Blood is performed to detect the fertility problems, functioning of the reproductive organs, and the abnormalities in pituitary gland secretions in both men and women.

CLINICAL INFORMATION :

This test is usually done at the beginning of the menstruation cycle – classically at day 3 along with FSH, to evaluate the ovarian function. Usually, the LH levels must be checked midway through the cycle i.e. day 14 of a 28-day cycle, since the LH surge triggers the ovulation. This test is suggested in patients is performed to detect the fertility problems, functioning of the reproductive organs, and the abnormalities in pituitary gland secretions in both men and women of reproductive age groups and rarely in delayed onset of puberty in girls, etc. Other associated tests include radioimmunoassay, ELISA, kit methods, etc.

Sample Requirement: Specimen - Blood sample drawn from the vein or in fingertip (capillary blood). Test Preparation: None.
