BLOOD SUGAR (F)
Blood sugar (F) is fasting Blood Sugar to determine the glucose level in the blood which is taken after the overnight fasting. This test helps to diagnose Diabetes Mellitus. Generally fasting blood tests conducted in the morning before the person has taken the meal.
CLINICAL INFORMATION:
This test is usually done for the medical diagnosis of certain abnormalities such as pancreatitis, pancreatic cancers, and an underactive thyroid. Low levels of glucose also indicate self-administration of overuse of insulin dose, starvation, Addison’s disease, insulinoma, kidney diseases, etc. This test is suggested in patients with symptoms such as increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, shortness of breath, stomach pain, fruity breath odor, dry mouth, nausea, and vomiting, etc. Other associated tests include the O-T method, GOD-POD method, hexokinase method, kit methods, spectrometric methods, chromatography methods, etc.

Sample Requirement: Specimen - A blood sample was drawn from the vein, capillary blood specimen (kit method – strip test), Test Preparation: Overnight fasting.
